Black Desert Golf Course
A First Look at Black Desert Golf Course, St. George, Utah
When I had the chance to play Black Desert Golf Course right after it first opened, I knew I was in for something special. This course is unlike any other, combining the natural beauty of the Utah landscape with a golf experience designed to challenge and delight players of all skill levels. As their website perfectly puts it, Black Desert Resort is “where every golfer’s dream becomes a reality.”
The first thing you notice is the stunning backdrop. The vibrant red rocks and towering mountains create an unforgettable setting, but what really adds an extra layer of drama are the black lava rocks that weave throughout the course. It’s as if the terrain itself is telling a story, and you’re lucky enough to be a part of it for the day.
This 19-hole, 7,500-yard course is designed to be enjoyable for everyone, whether you’re just getting into the game or looking for a serious test of your skills. For those new to golf, the forgiving fairways and well-placed landing areas make it a welcoming challenge. But for more experienced players, the back tees offer plenty of risk-reward scenarios that will keep you on your toes throughout the round.
The greens were manicured to perfection, and each hole had its own unique blend of beauty and challenge. From the rolling fairways to the strategically placed bunkers and hazards, the course requires precision, but also allows room for fun and creativity. Black Desert truly embodies the idea that golf should be an experience, not just a game.
I believe Black Desert is a course that offers something for everyone. It’s not just about the score you shoot—it’s about the memories you make surrounded by one of the most breathtaking landscapes you’ll ever see on a golf course.
